Rockland 11-12s overpower Waldoboro in playoff action

The Rockland District 2, 11-12 softball All-Stars, used good hitting, fielding, pitching and base running to overpower the visiting Waldoboro District 2 All-Stars Thursday 10-3 in Rockland as the playoffs continue towards a district championship.

Next up for Rockland will be July 9 in Waldoboro when they face off against Camden-Rockport whom defeated Lincoln County June 30. Waldoboro and Lincoln County will meet Monday July 6 in Rockland in an elimination game.

Chelsea Williams pitched a complete game for Rockland allowing three runs on six hits and eight walks while striking out five.

Jewel Prior went the distance for Waldoboro allowing 10 runs on nine hits and four walks with three strikeouts.

Sarah Penney led the hitting for Rockland (2 singles, 2 runs, RBI), Brittany Rytky (single, run, RBI), Ashley Davis-Oakes (2 singles, run), Tracie Webster (single, run, 2 RBIs), Jordan Carpenter (single, run), Emma Provost (single, run), Eliza Davidson (triple, 3 RBIs), Maris Rosa (run, RBI) and Ashley Gardiner and Williams (run each). Other members of the Rockland team are, Jacquelyn Thorbjornson, Alexandra Chase, Autumn Keene, and Alexandra Nibby.

For Waldoboro, Laura Dyer (2 singles), Erika Bramhall (2 singles, run), Vanessa Rancourt (single, run, RBI), Aiden Skov (single), Prior (3 walks, run), Kasandra Mank and Hope Lash (RBI each). Other members of the Waldoboro team are, Lei_Ann Sproul, Cierra Miller, Jewel Dorian and Hannah Thibault.

Rockland scored six runs in the second, two in the third and one each in the fourth and fifth. Waldoboro scored all their runs in the fifth.
