Old Town rolls past Holbrook, headed to championship game

Monday night at the Rod McPherson Field in Holden, Austin Lacadie had two hits and drove in three runs as Old Town eliminated Holbrook with an 8-5 win in the 9-10 All-Stars District 3 tournament game. Old Town (4-1) advances to the championship game against Houlton (4-0) at 5:30 on July 21. Old Town will need to defeat Houlton twice in order to win the District Championship.

Lacadie drove in two runs in the first inning to put Old Town on top 2-0. A four run second inning gave Old Town a 6-0 lead, and two runs were added in the third putting Old Town on top 8-0.

While Nick Siebert was shutting down the Old Town offense over the final three innings, Holbrook was able to put three runs on the board in the fourth to cut the Old Town lead to 8-3. After a scoreless fifth, Holbrook added two more runs in the sixth to close the scoring at 8-5 before Old Town catcher Cole Daniel threw out Tyler Timms trying to steal second base for the final out of the game.

Lacadie had two singles and drove in three runs to lead Old Town at the plate, and Nick Boutin and Ben Quimby each added a single. Nick Magoon picked up the win on the hill, pitching three scoreless innings and allowing just two hits while striking out seven.

Danny Davis, Tyler Timms, Sam Hafford, Nate Smith, and Austin Lufkin each had a single for Holbrook. Siebert came on in relief in the third inning to stop the Old Town rally, and closed out the game for Holbrook without allowing a hit over his three plus innings of work.
