Lincoln County 11-12's slip past Camden-Rockport in extra innings

When tournaments get towards the end, fans like to see good baseball games played by what should be some of the best. Games should be close, well played, and exciting.

Lincoln County (3-1) and Camden-Rockport (3-2) provided all of that and more as the two teams battled in an exciting game for eight innings before Lincoln County was able to score two runs in the top of the eighth and hold Camden-Rockport to one in the bottom of the inning for the 7-6 win.

The win puts Lincoln County in the District 2 championship game against Rockland slated for Wednesday, July 22. Rockland sent Lincoln County to the losers bracket July 18 when they defeated them 10-0 in Belfast. Lincoln County has beaten Camden-Rockport twice and Waldoboro to get to the championship. Rockland has beaten Waldo County, Knox Suburban and Lincoln County to get to the title game.

The championship game will be played at E. Gordan Park on Pleasant St in Rockland. The District 2 champion will represent the district in the state tournament that runs July 25-31 in Thomaston.

Travis Creamer and Kobe Lincoln (1-0) combined on the mound for Lincoln County pitching eight innings allowing six runs on 10 hits and six walks with 10 strikeouts.

Daulton Wickenden, Connor Graffam, Matt Crockett and Cailen Schecter (0-1) pitched for Camden-Rockport allowing seven runs on eight hits and five walks while striking out eight.

Seven players had base hits for Lincoln County in the win. Creamer (single, run), Brady Leeman (single, run), Brett Cowan (double, 2 runs), Nick Morton (triple, single), Matt Bolster (double, run), Colton Spear (double, run)and Todd Anderson (double, run).

For Camden-Rockport, Crockett (single), Wickenden (double, single, run), Graffam (2 singles), Clark Thomas (2 runs), Schecter (single, run), Sean Pierce (3 singles), Drew Long (single) and Sam Gimelewicz (2 runs).
