Bartlett drives in four, Old Town eliminates Hermon 15-10

In Holden Sunday afternoon, Old Town broke open a scoreless game in the fourth inning with a nine run explosion and put the game away with five runs in the fifth inning for a 15-10 victory over Hermon in the 9-10 All-Stars District 3 playoffs.

Hermon was eliminated from the tournament. Old Town takes on Holbrook in a semifinal game at 5:30 Monday, July 20, and the winner will face Houlton in the championship game on Tuesday at 5:30.

Over the first three innings, the game was a pitcher's duel between Cole Daniel of Old Town and Zack Nash of Hermon. Heading into the top of the fourth the score was 0-0. Old Town then exploded for nine runs to take a 9-0 lead. Hermon bounced back in the bottom half of the inning with six runs to get back into the game trailing 9-6.

Old Town put the game away in the fifth with five more runs for a 14-6 lead, and added one more run in the sixth. Hermon tried to rally back as they scored four runs in the final half inning, but could not overcome the nine run deficit.

Chad Bartlett had two doubles and four RBIs to lead Old Town at the plate. Nick Boutin added two singles and three RBIs, and Ben Quimby had two singles. Caleb Gifford tripled, Jacob Ketch singles and drove in two runs, and Austin Lacadie had a single and an RBI. Daniel, Dana Ouellette, Baxter Smith, and Alex Blackie each chipped in with a single. Daniel was the winning pitcher working into the fourth inning.

Ryan Hoogterp led Hermon with three singles. Andrew Burgess had a double and two RBIs, Tyler Beaton and Christian Greener each added two singles, and Derek McCarthy and Corbin Tate each had a single and an RBI. Nash chipped in with a single.
