Orono boys, Mt View girls net Preseason Tourney wins

At the Bangor Auditorium Friday afternoon, the Orono boys got a game high 13 points from Kash Keezer and rallied in the fourth quarter for a 53-47 win over Mt. View, while the Mustangs girls took a 13-1 first quarter lead and cruised to a 46-22 route over the Red Riots during the John Bapst Preseason Tournament.

In the boys game, Orono trailed by two points heading into the final period but out scored the Mustangs 17-9 to pull out the six point win. Mt. View led at the conclusion of the first three quarters of the game. Nathan Paul, Keezer, and Joel Reimersma combined for 15 points in the quarter.

Keezer scored 13 points, and both Lee Hecker and Brandon Levasseur had eight points to lead Orono. Paul, Reimersma, and AJ Coleman each added seven points, Morgan Talty had two points, and Larry Wintle chipped in with one point. The Red Riots had five 3-point baskets, two by Coleman and one each by Reimersma, Levasseur, and Paul, and they went 10-17 from the charity stripe.

Dylan Keller scored 12 points and Tim Alton added 11 points to pace the Mustangs. Alec Albright and Tyler Rednour each scored seven points and Zach Babin added five points. Colby Blanchard had three points and Jimmy Durand scored two points. Mt. View had one 3-point basket by Rednour and shot 8-15 from the foul line.

In the girls game, Hayleigh Kein scored nine first quarter points as the Mustangs jumped out to a 13-1 lead and led 25-5 at half time on their way to the 46-22 victory.

Kein scored a game high 14 points to lead Mt View. Chrissy Larrabee and Jessica Smith each added eight points and Alexis Bennett scored six points. Cassandra St. Clair scored four points and Macy Montminy, Dakota McAdam, and Anna Piotti each chipped in with two points. The Mustangs went 2-5 from the free throw line.

Jade Keezer scored nine points to pace the Red Riots. Sarah Thibeault scored five points, Ashley Thibeault, Ally Sherman, and Andria Foster each scored two points, and both Amber Saucier and Taylor Gray chipped in with one point. Orono had one 3-point basket by Keezer and shot just 5-22 from the charity stripe.
